Georgia’s first pimento cheese-themed restaurant, Suga’s Cheese Shoppe & Café
Restaurant: Suga’s Cheese Shoppe & Café Location: Powder Springs
Pimento cheese, aka the “caviar of the South,” isn’t just for dipping your crackers into anymore. Co-founder and chef Stacey West (who goes by “Suga”) graduated from Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts in Atlanta and worked with some of Georgia’s top chefs, such as Hilary White of The Hil at Serenbe and Holly Chute, executive chef at Georgia Grown.

Restaurant: Rosemary & Thyme Location: Americus
On the second floor is the historic hotel, Best Western Plus Windsor Hotel is the main dining room, Rosemary & Thyme. Located in an old ballroom is the affordable fine-dining restaurant that opened in 2012. A special occasion or for visitors to the area, the 130-year-old hotel is a great place to dine… and enjoy!
Spanish-Latin Vibes
Restaurant: Fogón and Lions Location: Alpharetta
A black-and-white picture of Chef Julio Delgado’s grandfather, who was a butcher in Ponce, Puerto Rico, hangs in the entryway and adorns the cover of the menus of restaurant Fogón and Lions. Opening last year, the symbol of a crouching lion in his logo pays homage to Delgado’s hometown. The extensive menu draws inspiration from culinary traditions in Spain and its colonies in the Caribbean, Central and South America and The Philippines. Chck out the array of tapas and explore the world through your palate.
Girl Diver brings modern Asian seafood to the Atlanta Beltline
Restaurant: Girl Diver Location: Memorial Drive, Atlanta
Opened in December 2020 by Richard Tang (Char Korean Bar and Grill) and Chef Karl Gorline (Watershed), the colorful and unpretentious spot has an approachable seafood-forward menu, with a good mix of Chinese, Thai, Japanese and Vietnamese twists. A large mural of an Asian girl with an octopus provides the central backdrop. The painting is a modern take on Dream of the Fisherman’s Wife by Japanese artist Katsushika Hokusai. The name of the restaurant – Girl Diver – pays tribute to the women who collected pearls, sea cucumbers, sea urchins and abalone from the bottom of the ocean.
