Unofficial Guide Issue 09.08: Eat, Visit, Do, and Shop
After an end-of-summer delay, we’re back with some more of our unofficial favorite things in the state.
Eat: The Front Porch on Sinclair is a charming lakeside bar and grill. You can drive there, or even better, you can boat there! With a diverse menu and live music on Friday and Saturday nights, there’s something for everybody here.
Visit: With football back, the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta is calling your name. Open every day except Tuesday, you can interact with exhibits, give your skills a go on the field, and experience memorable plays just like you’re on the field. Right now, there’s a Battle of the Bands exhibit featuring Keith Duncan’s art that celebrates HBCU marching bands.
Do: Speaking of football, support local sports. If you miss the thrill of Friday night lights, grab tickets to your local high school football (or any sport) game, grab a hot dog, and enjoy watching the next generation of athletes show their skills. And who doesn’t love a marching band at halftime? The best part about supporting local sports is that usually gate ticket and concession money goes to worthwhile causes. It’s a win for everyone!
