The wait is over. Atlanta naturalization ceremony swears in 90 new U.S. citizens
Amanda Andrews and Sarah Kallis reports that around 90 new citizens were sworn in Friday at a naturalization ceremony in Atlanta — though not all those who were scheduled to be there attended. Officials in the Northern District of Georgia federal court said three immigrants’ ceremonies were canceled at the last minute, but they would not say why.

Second natural gas turbine arrives at Georgia Power’s Plant Yates

Unemployment claims in Georgia increased last week
Staff reports that initial filings for unemployment benefits in Georgia rose last week compared with the week prior, the U.S. Department of Labor said Thursday. New jobless claims, a proxy for layoffs, increased to 8,890 in the week ending December 6, up from 2,887 the week before, the Labor Department said.

The decision bypasses a potentially thorny Constitutional problem that other states have grappled with during the second presidency of Donald Trump whereby the White House has largely ignored the Senate confirmation process for U.S. attorney candidates and instead appointed friends and allies of the president to these powerful jobs.

Trump administration slashes Georgia migrant farmworker H-2A wages
Lautauro Grinspan reports that tens of thousands of migrant farmworkers in Georgia saw their hourly wages slashed by as much as 35% in late 2025 after a Trump administration policy change. The affected farmworkers are in the U.S. legally, having come in for months at a time through a temporary visa on which the state’s agricultural employers have come to rely for their labor needs: the H-2A guest worker program.
