This year’s Georgian of the Year, Atlanta Mayor Andre Dickens, achieved his lifelong dream of becoming mayor in part because of his confidence and hard work, but also because of his never-give-up mindset. You tend to find similar qualities in most leaders who serve in local and state government or run companies, health systems, universities and nonprofits in the state’s 159 counties.

Georgia Trend is honoring 100 of these noteworthy people on our annual list of Most Influential Georgians. In addition to helping Georgia residents through education, innovation and job creation, these leaders also serve on boards and foundations and make a positive impact on the state.

In this year’s list, you’ll find politicians and physicians, CEOs and university presidents, experts in finance, technology and law as well as those who run nonprofits and economic development organizations. Some you’ve seen on television; others quietly work behind the scenes. No matter their background or area of expertise, they are passionate about their work and use their time and talent wisely.

In selecting the state’s most influential people each year, the Georgia Trend staff has the unenviable job of narrowing down an extensive list of impressive people to just 100. It takes time and effort, but ultimately, we feel the group chosen represents the best qualities the state has to offer.

There is also a list of Notable Georgians, here. These are individuals who have also made a significant impact in the Peach State over the years.
