Department of Transportation announces project awards
Staff reports that the Georgia Department of Transportation awarded a total of 10 projects in February 2024, including resurfacing, safety, and bridge construction and reconstruction. The largest single investment, valued at approximately $64 million, is allocated to a reconstruction project covering 3.732 miles of widening on U.S. Highway 76/State Route 515/SR 2 from east of Earl Shelton Road to Sampson Road.

Georgia launches website: Here’s how to apply for funds from Purdue Pharma’s opioid settlement
Ellen Eldridge reports that the Georgia Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities launched a website Monday with information about how to apply for grants related to the state’s $638 million opioid settlement dollars. These national settlements have now been finalized and payments have already begun in Georgia, DBHDD Commissioner Kevin Tanner said Monday, April 8.

Kennesaw Sells Naming Rights to $6 Million Depot Park Amphitheater
Annie Mayne reports that Kennesaw has sold the naming rights to its incoming $6 million amphitheater in downtown’s Depot Park. The City Council voted Monday to grant naming rights of the stage to Piedmont Bank for a three-year period at $75,000.

The former aide turned U.S. House candidate was the only person to greet Trump as he arrived in Atlanta and joined the former president as he delivered impromptu remarks to reporters.
