Gov. Kemp: PrizePicks Announces 33,000-square-foot Headquarters in Atlanta
Staff reports that Gov. Kemp on Thursday announced that PrizePicks, one of the largest daily fantasy sports operators in North America, will locate its new 33,000-square-foot headquarters in Atlanta. The company will invest $25 million in the new headquarters and expand its workforce by 1,000 new jobs over the next seven years.

Rowen project signs ‘living lab’ agreements with Georgia colleges

Rowen, a 2,000-acre life sciences campus in Gwinnett County near Dacula, recently signed “living laboratory” agreements with the University System of Georgia and the Technical College System of Georgia.

Gulfstream celebrates G700 certification with surprise at end of Savannah conference

Morehouse expands prison-to-college pipeline with $1.6 million gift
Chamian Cruz reports that more incarcerated students will soon have access to an education from Morehouse College thanks to a federal investment of $1.6 million. Congresswoman Nikema Williams says she secured the money for the Andrew Young Center for Global Leadership, which houses the Higher Education in Prisons Initiative, so approximately 200 students behind bars can participate annually.

Agriculture community hopes to keep farmland from falling into ‘adversarial’ hands
Tammy Joyner reports, with foreign land purchases increasing and tensions growing over national security, Georgia lawmakers passed a bill in the final days of the 2024 legislative session that bans foreign adversaries from buying farmland, a vital part of Georgia’s economy. Senate Bill 420, which was sponsored by Sen. Jason Anavitarte, now awaits Gov. Brian Kemp’s signature.

A state authority for The Weeping Time approved by state officials. Here is what it will do.
Evan Lasseter reports, nearly three weeks after Savannah commemorated 165 years since the Weeping Time, Georgia legislators unanimously passed a bill set to increase education and awareness of the state’s largest slave auction. The bill, HB1425, will create a state authority dedicated to the “promotion and provision” of community and educational resources related to the Weeping Time and Gullah Geechee history.

Georgia cities to share federal grant for clean energy planning

Granholm announced Thursday a Georgia partnership will receive funding to develop green energy innovations as part of the Energy Future Grants Program. The partnership of Atlanta, Decatur, Savannah and Georgia Tech is one of 40 teams to receive a grant.
