Anheuser-Bush celebrates $13 million investment in Cartersville brewery

David Herron reports that Anheuser-Busch conducted a tour with several guests Nov. 27 to celebrate the company investing $13 million into its Cartersville brewery. “Today, Anheuser-Busch is announcing that it has reached a $13 million investment in its Cartersville brewery this year, which has gone towards ongoing capital projects designed to increase capabilities and support ongoing improvements at the brewery,” Anheuser-Busch said in a press release.

Gulfstream looks to sun to power Savannah research campus

John Deem reports that Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. plans to use on-site solar panels to supply one-quarter of the electricity for its Savannah Research and Development Campus near the Savannah-Hilton Head International Airport.The rooftop systems are operational on four campus buildings and will go online at a fifth facility next year, said Rexford Ofosu, Gulfstream’s corporate sustainability manager.

Southern Georgia Regional Commission unveils TSPLOST II proposed project list

Kasmira Smith reports that the Executive Committee of the Southern Georgia Regional Commission Roundtable has unveiled a Draft Constrained Investment List for the counties representing the Special District for the proposed Transportation Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (TSPLOST). The Southern Georgia Regional Commission is a regional planning and intergovernmental coordination agency that serves 45 municipalities and 18 counties.

New congressional map proposes major changes in Atlanta’s northern suburbs

Dave Williams reports that the Georgia Senate’s Republican majority released a new congressional map for the Peach State Friday aimed at creating an additional Black majority district as ordered by a federal judge. The proposed map, which the General Assembly will begin considering next week, would radically alter the 6th Congressional District the GOP-controlled legislature drew two years ago, part of a map U.S. District Judge Steve Jones ruled in October violates the Voting Rights Act.

Analysis: Georgia Republicans pursue ‘blatant’ attempt to oust Lucy McBath

Greg Bluestein reports, ever since Lucy McBath won her seat in Congress in 2018, Republicans have tried – and failed – to oust McBath from office. The district she now holds was split between two Democratic and two Republican incumbents. To McBath it’s another “blatant attempt to make me lose my seat.”
