Kanell reports that Coca-Cola on Tuesday announced better-than-expected revenues and earnings for its third financial quarter and projected that the coming year’s results will also be better than previously predicted. The Atlanta-based beverage giant reported sales of $11.95 billion, 8.0% higher than the same period a year ago, while its net income was $3.09 billion, up 9% from that same three-months.

‘Something big and bold.’ Macon plans new terminal at Middle GA Regional Airport

Jenna Eason reports, as Macon-Bibb County takes over more responsibilities at Middle Georgia Regional Airport, county officials announced Monday plans to build a new terminal building that will pay homage to the city’s musical history. The county, doing business as HighNote Aviation, is the airport’s new “fixed-base operator” (FBO) after a sixth-month transition from previous FBO Lowe Aviation.

New Korean Supplier to Land in Savannah, Investing $72M and Hiring 500

Trevor Williams reports, a new Korean supplier is set to invest $72.5 million in Savannah, hiring more than 500 at a facility that will make seat frames for cars with an automated process outfitted with robotic welding machines. Daechang Seat Corp. will set up shop in the Savannah Chatham Manufacturing Center to be near the Hyundai Meta Plant, where the South Korean auto maker is constructing its first dedicated electric vehicle factory in the United States.

Adam Carey reports that the Summit Hill Foods plant on First Avenue in downtown Rome will be sold on Dec. 31 and the plant will shut down. Vice President of Human Resources Jason Marion alerted Rome Mayor Sundai Stevenson and Floyd County Commission Chair Allison Watters in an Oct. 9 letter, required under the WARN — Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification — Act.

Curt Yeomans reports that after-market repair services company, Renova Technology Inc., expanded its presence in Gwinnett County on Tuesday with the grand opening of its expanded facility in Norcross. Renova has been in Gwinnett County for 22 years and its $600,000 expansion is expected create 30 new jobs in the county, including jobs for customer service, marketing, sales and repair work.

Judge dismisses Camden’s case against Union Carbide

Mary Landers reports, Camden County has failed in its bid to recoup through the courts some of the millions it spent to develop a spaceport. The county filed suit against Union Carbide last year in federal court for the Southern District of Georgia in Brunswick, claiming “unjust enrichment” and seeking a return of up to $2.64 million associated with its option to buy the chemical giant’s 4,000-acre property in Camden as a commercial rocket launch site.

Georgia Supreme Court upholds state’s six-week abortion ban, returns challenge to lower court

Jill Nolin reports that attention has shifted back to the Fulton County courthouse after the Georgia Supreme Court rejected an argument that state lawmakers should have to pass abortion restrictions in the post-Roe world. A group of health care providers and abortion rights advocates had argued that parts of the 2019 law should be thrown out because they were passed before the U.S. Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade in 2022 and left the issue for states to decide.
