In May, metro Atlanta becomes the new home of U.S Soccer
Sara Sedghi reports, for the first time in its history, U.S. Soccer will eschew its nomadic past and plant roots in metro Atlanta. In May, the Arthur M. Blank U.S. Soccer National Training Center will open in Fayetteville, 25 miles south of Atlanta in Fayette County. The 230-acre center features 17 fields, providing practice grounds for teams competing at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta this summer.

Georgia declares ‘Level 1′ drought, urges conservation. Here’s what to know.
Drew Kann reports that Georgia officials issued a ″Level 1″ drought declaration Monday, a move that will require public water systems to encourage conservation as a historic and unusual spring drought grips the Peach State. IGY Savannah Harbor Marina continues Hutchinson Island transformation
Evan Lassiter reports, the city’s Hutchinson Island is now home to downtown Savannah’s first boat marina, the IGY Savannah Harbor Marina, bringing droves of boaters straight to the city’s core. IGY Marinas and developer Savannah Harbor Partners cut the ribbon on the already active marina Friday, ushering in the latest phase of Hutchinson Island’s transformation into a mixed-use destination.

Kingsland tree farms may sprout data center
Maggie Lee reports that that a businessman based in Jacksonville, Fla. is seeking to rezone nearly 700 acres of Camden County land along Interstate 95 for a proposed industrial park which would allow data centers. Two separate companies led by Kirk Tovey own the adjacent Camden parcels that currently have overhead power lines but not much other infrastructure.

New electric buses to help Bibb students’ health and the environment, leaders say
Margaret Walker reports, Bibb County School District celebrated a milestone in sustainable transportation Thursday, unveiling 15 new electric school buses, 10 new propane-powered buses and 15 electric charging stations. The addition is part of a broader clean transportation push already underway in Bibb County, where propane-powered vehicles now make up 71% of the school district’s bus fleet.

Greene County’s first African American historical marker honors one of Georgia’s first Black legislators
Dormiya Vance reports that Greene County now has its first historical marker dedicated to an African American who served as one of the first Black legislators elected to the Georgia General Assembly. A small group gathered outside of the Greene County Courthouse on Sunday to honor former state Rep. Abram Colby, who served the county after the Civil War.

Moroccan Ambassador: Soccer Match a Bridge to Closer Business Ties With Atlanta, U.S.

The new “Facelift” spot opens with a swipe at Jackson’s looks, saying that “some makeovers are only skin deep.”
