Google for Startups is awarding $5 million to 76 promising Black entrepreneurs across the U.S. to help grow their businesses. Of those, 35 are located in Metro Atlanta, the highest number of recipients among all states. The Georgia-based Black-owned businesses will receive $2.35 million through Google’s Black Founders Fund.

The funds will allow business owners to make improvements and will assist them in overcoming some of the challenges resulting from the COVID-19 pandemic. Along with the financial infusion, founders will have access to technical resources, mentors and best practices via Google for Startups programs. Managing distribution of the cash awards is Atlanta-based Goodie Nation, a nonprofit that helps diverse founders and social entrepreneurs close funding gaps.
