New industrial tenant in Effingham

The Effingham County Industrial Development Authority (IDA) has announced the first tenant for its new industrial park near Rincon. A&R Logistics, a Louisville, Ky.-firm that transports plastic pellets to overseas markets, will lease 600,000 square feet in a building to be constructed by OmniTRAX.
OmniTRAX, a transportation management company out of Denver, partnered with the IDA to develop the 2,700-acre industrial park on land that has been vacant for over a decade. The $92-million project includes a new building and a rail yard, which should be completed by the end of next year.
A&R Logistics will transport plastic pellets by rail from Houston and Louisiana via CSX railway. The company is taking a 12-year lease on what will be a state-of-the-art export facility that will create 60 jobs paying about $20 per hour.
