Historic hotel retains her elegance

The 125-year-old Windsor Hotel in Americus continues to attract visitors from all corners of the country who are drawn by her opulent elegance as well as several nearby attractions. Over the years, the town’s grande dame has welcomed a plethora of celebrities from Al Capone and Franklin D. Roosevelt to Conan O. Brien and Jimmy and Rosalynn Carter, who are enthusiastic supporters.

Visitors are treated to 53 unique, Victorian-style rooms that have been renovated to offer modern amenities. In addition, the Windsor offers a full service restaurant, a pub and a calendar of events that includes a period dress murder-mystery dinner theater.

Those drawn by the hotel’s splendor also have the opportunity to visit popular sites in the area such as the Andersonville National Historic Site, which was a Confederate prisoner-of-war camp during the Civil War’s final years, the Habitat for Humanity Global Village and Discovery Center, the Jimmy Carter National Historic Site, Providence Canyon State Park and Pasaquan, an internationally recognized visionary art environment.
