Georgia companies part of Small Biz Revolution
Two Georgia companies representing industries about as diverse as they come – agriculture and robotics – were spotlighted as part of the national Small Business Revolution project in 2015. Sponsored by the Deluxe Corp., the project celebrated the important role small businesses play in communities across our country, with a documentary and photo essays of two innovative small businesses per state.
“The hands-on customer service, the entrepreneurial spirit and the deep community involvement people find in the small businesses they frequent make all the difference,” Amanda Brinkman, chief brand and communications officer for Deluxe Corp, said in a press release. “Telling these moving, inspirational stories and putting a spotlight on these owners is our way of celebrating the best parts of American business.”
The two hands-on Georgia companies featured in the project are Lane Southern Orchards of Fort Valley and Zyrobotics of Atlanta.
Lane Southern Orchards has been producing peaches and pecans in Georgia for more than 100 years. Today the company has 65 employees and has evolved from a traditional farm into a 21st century agribusiness that includes a restaurant, bakery, roadside market and event venue.
The mission of Atlanta-based Zyrobotics is to enable freedom through technology, with products including educational gaming apps, smart toys and social robot coaches. Learn more about Zyrobotics in this month’s inaugural Trendsetters feature “Smart Fun.”
