Aerospace Expansion: LMI Aerospace is expanding in Savannah following its acquisition of Valent Aerostructures in Decem-ber. The expansion will boost the facility to 161,000 square feet and add 100 new jobs.
Healthcare: Athena-health is expanding, creating 500 new jobs and investing $10.8 million into its new headquarters at the Ponce City Market development in Atlanta. The provider of cloud-based services for healthcare providers will relocate its 140 existing em-ployees from Alpharetta and plans to add more than 50 employees over the next five years.
Coweta Plant: Yamaha Motor Manufacturing Corp. opened a second assembly plant in Newnan, with plans to hire 100 new employees initially and an additional 300 workers over the next few years.
Outpatient Care: WellStar Health System is building a 150,000-square-foot outpatient center in Cherokee County. The Holly Springs Health Park, which will begin construction in 2014, will include medical diagnostic testing, health screening and wellness services and could create up to 1,000 jobs.
Sunroofs in Cherokee: Inalfa Roof Systems, a global supplier of vehicle roofing systems, is opening a $17.1-million manufacturing plant in Cherokee County – the first for the company in the Southeast. The facility is scheduled to start production in January 2014 and will bring 300 jobs to the area.
Atlanta Innovation: AT&T is developing a Foun-dry innovation center – the company’s fourth – in At-lanta on the Georgia Tech campus. The program helps third-party developers create new applications and services for AT&T’s network.
Cedartown Hospital: Polk County is getting a new hospital. The $40-million, 73,000-square-foot hospital will replace the current Polk Medical Center facility, which was built in 1944. The medical facility, which broke ground in July, will double the ER size, add new services such as surgery and include 25 private rooms and a new medical office building.
Glynn Manufacturing: California-based Quaker City Plating is opening a 25,000-square-foot facility in Brunswick. The company will hire 40 employees to manufacture electroplate aviation parts for Gulf-stream Aerospace.
They’re Back: Hostess Brands LLC in Columbus started Twinkie production in July. The facility, which closed when Hostess Brands Inc. shuttered all its production facilities, plans to hire 200 initially, with up to 100 more added as demand increases.
Relocation: Spanx is relocating its headquarters to the new Buckhead Atlanta development in 2014, along with a flagship store.
