Unofficial Guide Issue 07.14: Eat, Visit, Do, and Shop

BBQ in Lawrenceville, trains in Savannah, fireflies in Madison, and antiques in Atlanta

As we come to the end of the summer and school starts getting back in session, we bring you another Unofficial Guide with some of our favorite places.

July 14

Eat: Little Barn in Lawrenceville. There are salmon croquettes on the breakfast menu, so how could you go wrong? But really, Little Barn is known for their BBQ and Brunswick stew. They pride themselves on “cookin’ food better than your mama.” Stop by for breakfast or lunch, or you can have them cater your next get-together.

Visit: The Georgia State Railroad Museum in Savannah is a family-friendly stop that will let you get up close with locomotives, handcars, and more. The tours and exhibits include railroad and technological history, industrial slavery, and segregation. It’s a museum any train-obsessed kiddo (or adult) would love to see.

Do: Head to Madison for the Firefly Festival. Celebrating the end of summer, this two night festival has a Friday night Kids Night and a Saturday night Date Night concert. Put July 24th and 25th on your calendar and go enjoy these fun nights!

Shop: Mark your calendar for the next Scott Antique Market – August 6-9 at the Atlanta Expo Building. With 360,000 sf of any and everything antique and vintage you can imagine. You’ll be sure to leave with some new (old) goodies.
