Aerotech Machining has earned national recognition as Modern Machine Shop’s Top Shops Honoree in Machining Technology for 2025. According to Modern Machine Shop, Aerotech Machining earned this status for a number of reasons, from its apprenticeship program and investing in employee skills to investing in new equipment and technology such as 3D printers and machines that use SmoothAI controls.

“We’re honored that Modern Machine Shop selected Aerotech Machining as its Top Shops Honoree in Machining Technology,” Joey Jones, President and CEO of Aerotech Machining, said. “Earning this distinction was truly a team effort, as every single person at Aerotech contributes to our company’s success.”

Modern Machine Shop noted that “Aerotech Machining has a strong focus on aerospace work, though it also highlights jobs it has undertaken in the agriculture, rail and power generation markets. Many of its machines are Mazak machine tools that use the OEM’s SmoothAI controls, which minimize vibrations by automatically optimizing speeds and feeds based on machine tool data.” Beyond these, the shop maintains CNC machine tools, waterjet cutters, FDM printers, manual lathes, and more. Modern Machine Shop also highlighted the company’s leadership’s focus on new hires, an apprenticeship program and the important role that Aerotech’s highly trained employees play.

Aerotech Machining has an apprenticeship program that starts new hires in a classroom environment to learn essential skills before they begin learning on the shop floor. “There, they work with manual machines and progress to learning CNC machines, with experience machinists working as mentors. This willingness to work across generations is a requirement for Aerotech’s employees,” Modern Machine Shop stated, adding that “Jones is also willing to further invest in the skills of any employee who desires to learn programming and invites CAD/CAM software companies to lead yearly workshops for Aerotech employees.”

Based in Bloomingdale, Georgia, and serving regional, national, and international customers for over 30 years, Aerotech Machining manufactures complex components for the Aerospace, Agriculture, Power Generation and Railways industries.
