Consistently No. 1: Georgia has been named the No. 1 state for business by Area Development for the 12th year in a row. During the fiscal year, there were more than 420 facility expansions and new locations, representing more than $26.3 billion in investment, a new record.
Revving Up: Rivian officially broke ground in September on its $5 billion EV manufacturing facility, which will create more than 2,000 construction jobs and 7,500 permanent jobs by 2030. The facility will be developed in two phases with the start of production anticipated for 2028. When fully completed, it will have the capacity to manufacture up to 400,000 R2 SUV and R3 crossover vehicles a year.
Columbus Magnets: JS Link America Inc. is investing $223 million to establish a manufacturing facility in Columbus, creating more than 520 new jobs. The Korean biotechnology company’s 130,000-square-foot facility will make permanent magnets, which are a critical component for products in industries from automobiles and wind turbines to elevators and the medical industry. Operation will begin in late 2027.
Gainesville Sauce: Koon Chun (USA), which makes condiments like soy sauce, is investing $70 million to open a facility in Hall County, creating up to 50 jobs. The 41-acre site is expected to be operational in 2028.
Rincon EV: Sewon America is expanding in Effingham County. The Hyundai supplier makes electric vehicle body parts, and the $50 million investment will add almost 100,000 square feet to its existing facility and create 100 new jobs.
Brewing Expansion: Anheuser-Busch is investing $9.2 million to expand its Cartersville brewery. The expansion will increase production of Michelob Ultra, the country’s fastest-growing beer brand. The facility currently produces 48 different products.
Coastal Cold Storage: Global logistics and supply chain solutions provider MEDLOG recently celebrated the grand opening of its 300,000-square-foot cold storage facility in Rincon. The facility has rail siding capacity for 18 rail cars, which opens new markets in the Midwest for frozen beef and pork. The $65 million project will create more than 100 new jobs.
