Severe storms possible across Georgia this weekend
Staff reports that a multi-day threat of severe weather is forecast across Georgia beginning late Friday and continuing through Sunday, with the greatest risk expected Saturay afternoon and early evening. According to the Storm Prediction Center, most of north and central Georgia falls under a Slight Risk for severe storms on Saturday.

Gwinnett County commissioners approve $714K to aid mental health crisis teams
Staff reports, Gwinnett County commissioners unanimously approved more than $700,000 in additional funding to be allocated to mental health crisis response teams. Officials say $714,000 will be allocated towards seven fully staffed teams that will pair Gwinnett County police officers with licensed clinicians to respond to mental health emergencies.

Fulton County celebrates solar panel installations on 46 more buildings

Fulton County is installing solar panels on 53 of its facilities as a part of a push to have the sun power 25 percent of its electricity by 2030.

Gov. Kemp joins letter calling for state management of red snapper fisheries
Taylor Cooper reports that Georgia Gov. Brian Kemp, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and South Carolina Gov. Henry McMaster sent a joint letter Wednesday to the U.S. Department of Commerce asking for the federal government to shift management of red snapper fishers and other reef fisheries in the South Atlantic Coast to the states. Currently, the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration has regulatory authority.

Brian Kemp is heading north this weekend with a different goal: strengthening ties with Georgia’s biggest trading partner. The second-term Republican will join other southeastern U.S. officials at a cross-border economic summit in Saint John, New Brunswick, as part of the Southeast U.S.–Canadian Provinces Alliance.
