Economic Development Around the State: Hyundai Motor Group Grand Opening & CNN Center Downtown News

Up and Running: After years of planning and construction, the massive $12.6 billion dollar Hyundai Motor Group Metaplant celebrated its official grand opening in March. In advance of the celebration, Hyundai announced it is also increasing production from 300,000 to 500,000 units a year on the Bryan County site, bringing an additional 14,000 new jobs by 2028. The first vehicle to be produced at the plant is the 2025 Hyundai IONIQ 5.

Atlanta Software: Accounting and business software company Sage celebrated the grand opening of its North American headquarters in Atlanta in March. The 58,000-square-foot office also serves as a collaborative hub for the company’s colleagues, customers and partners. The United States is the company’s largest market, accounting for nearly 40% of its global revenue.

Dunwoody HR: California-based human resources consulting firm TriNet is opening a 150,000-square-foot office in DeKalb County. The $15.4 million investment will employ 750 workers in the next five years.

Downtown Mixed-Use: The former CNN Center in Downtown Atlanta is being redeveloped. The 1.2-million-square-foot property in Fulton County has been renamed The Center and will be transformed into a mixed-use development featuring office space and retail, dining and entertainment options.

Home Furnishings: Ecommerce furniture behemoth Wayfair is opening a large-format store in The District at Howell Mill shopping center in Atlanta. While it operates nine smaller stores focused on its various brands, this will be only the second bricks-and-mortar location using the Wayfair brand name. (The first Wayfair store opened in Wilmette, Illinois in 2024.)

Hall County Investment: SOPO US Inc., a company from the Czech Republic that makes coils, stators and rotors for motors in the electric vehicle industry, is planning a $2.3 million facility in Flowery Branch that will create 25 jobs. Another Czech company is also coming to Hall County. SILENT, which produces insulated parts and components for the electrical industry, has plans to invest $1 million to create 10 new jobs.
