Economic Development Around the State
Tech Hub: Global food and agriculture company Cargill is establishing an office hub in Atlanta. The project, with Cargill’s Digital, Technology and Data organization as its first occupant, will create more than 400 new jobs when it opens in fall 2024.
LaGrange Sauces: Lee Kum Kee Sauce Group is investing $288 million in a new manufacturing facility in Troup County, creating 267 jobs over the next several years.
Metro Logistics: Swiss logistics firm Swisslog is establishing its North American headquarters in Dunwoody. The company, which provides warehouse automation and software, will add more than 100 new jobs in addition to its 30 current Metro Atlanta employees.
Valdosta Plastics: Utility Plastics, which produces heavy-duty underground enclosures for the power, water and communication markets, is investing $20 million to open a 100,000-square-foot facility in Lowndes County, bringing 60 jobs to the community.
McDonough Warehousing: Advanced
automated warehouse and food logistics company NewCold recently began operations at its $333 million facility in Henry County, one of three currently operating in North America. The 280,000-square-foot facility will create 170 new jobs when at full capacity. A second phase will break ground by the end of 2024.
Fulton Optics: Online prescriptions retailer GlassesUSA recently opened its U.S. headquarters and optical lab and fulfillment center in College Park. The $10 million facility will bring 75 jobs to the area.
Medical Devices: German medical device firm Gerresheimer is expanding again, adding two new factory buildings in Peachtree City and doubling its employees to almost 700. The first 83,000-square-foot building will ramp up production by the end of 2024, and a second 110,000-square-foot building will be constructed nearby with plans to begin full production in late 2025.
Staying Cold: P&B Cold Storage recently broke ground on the site for its new facility in Lowndes County. The $30 million investment will bring
100 new jobs to the area.
