Gov. Kemp: Second Automotive Supplier Creating 200 New Jobs in Candler County
Staff reports that Gov. Kemp on Tuesday announced that Doowon Climate Control America, Inc., an auto parts manufacturer and supplier, will invest more than $30 million in a new manufacturing facility in Metter, creating 200 new jobs in Candler County. This marks the second automotive supplier announced in Candler County in less than six months.

Susan Percy reports, U.S. District Judge Steve Jones’ ruling that Georgia’s newly redrawn congressional and legislative maps passed muster means Republicans are likely to hold on to a 9-5 majority in the U.S. House delegation and a majority in the state Senate in the 2024 elections. Discount carrier Avelo Airlines to fly to Atlanta from New Haven, Conn.
Kelly Yamanouchi reports that discount carrier Avelo Airlines is entering the Atlanta market with flights from its base in New Haven, Connecticut. The service is scheduled to start May 2 with four flights a week on Boeing 737 jets between Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and Tweed-New Haven Airport.

Delta to Launch Daily Barbados Flights From Atlanta, Expand Access to Dominican Republic and Curacao
Trevor Williams reports that Delta Air Lines Inc. is relaunching flights from Atlanta to the Caribbean island of Barbados, this time connecting to the former British territory with daily flights when it starts in November. Beginning Nov. 23, the flight restores a nonstop connection to a nation of 280,000 people that in 2021 became a republic, removing the British queen as the head of state nearly six decades after gaining independence in 1966.

Bipartisan group of GA lawmakers want to ban ‘artistic expression’ used as evidence

This comes after prosecutors in the YSL case fought to use his rap lyrics as evidence against him.

Republican-backed tax holiday bill for gun sales passes Georgia Senate, despite criticisms
Staff reports that a bill that would create a five-day window for Georgians to buy guns, ammunition and firearm accessories free of tax has passed in the state Senate in a 30-22 vote. The measure, Senate Bill 344, purports to help hunters, who play a crucial role in keeping the state’s deer population under control, but critics say it would widen Georgia’s already unrestrictive gun regulations even further.

Prosecutor oversight bill clears Georgia Senate despite criticism it thwarts local control
Stanley Dunlap reports that the Georgia Senate approved a version of a bill Tuesday that would enable a new commission to investigate complaints against prosecutors. With a 29-22 vote in favor of Senate Bill 332, the Professional Attorneys Qualifications Commission moves a step closer to begin reviewing allegations of misconduct filed against district attorneys and solicitor generals across the state.

General Assembly passes bill limiting no-cash bail
Dave Williams reports that the Georgia House of Representatives gave final passage Tuesday to legislation adding a long list of offenses ineligible for no-cash bail. The Republican controlled House voted 97-69 along party lines to adopt a conference committee report on Senate Bill 63 worked out by House and Senate negotiators.
