Trevor Williams reports, France’s new consul general in Atlanta has hit the ground running, attending a G20 meeting in North Carolina just days after settling in at the consulate’s offices in Buckhead. Consul General Matthieu Clouvel Gervaiseau attended the innovation ministerial in Chapel Hill, N.C., accompanying France’s minister-delegate for artificial intelligence and digital affairs, Anne Le Hénanf, on a visit to the Research Triangle, a key node for medical and biotech advancement in his new territory.

Newline donates $10,000 interactive whiteboard to GNTC
Staff reports that an estimated $10,000 interactive whiteboard donated to Georgia Northwestern Technical College will be used at the Academic Support Center on the Floyd County Campus in Rome. Newline Interactive Inc. donated the demonstration unit, which includes a touch display whiteboard, an onboard personal computer and a mobile stand.

Peachtree Circle historic district effort fails in Ansley Park

Carolyn Hugley (D-Columbus), the Georgia House minority leader, announced plans for new climate legislation Wednesday. “This work can help ensure that policymakers have access to research, expertise and public engagement as we examine the consequences of a changing climate for Georgia, and those consequences are increasingly difficult to ignore,” Hugley said during the Climate Action Campaign news conference at Woodruff Park in Columbus.

Georgia Supreme Court: police power is not a blanket defense when state damages private property
Ty Tagami reports that the Georgia Constitution gives the state broad authority to exercise police power, but the state Supreme Court clarified the extent of that authority when it comes to private property rights. In an opinion Wednesday, the state’s high court overturned lower courts that said the state had no obligation to compensate a farming company for crop loss caused by law enforcement activity.

One year later: More than 500 Georgia National Guard troops remain in D.C.
