New jobs, Kumho Tire moves to Brookhaven, Amazon, Shake Shack news, tech company OneTrust moves, and recycling news.
New R&D Facility: Mercedes-Benz is shifting up to 500 jobs to its existing location in Fulton County and investing in a new research and development facility nearby, setting the campus up as the company’s North American headquarters. The move is expected to be completed by August 2026.
Centralizing Operations: Kumho Tire is relocating its North American headquarters to Brookhaven. The tire manufacturer will centralize its regional operations into a 14,000-square-foot space at Perimeter Summit, which will be home to 50 employees.
Hogansville Sorting: Amazon is opening a new package sorting center in Troup County. The 1.6-million-square-foot facility, one of 22 fulfillment and sortation centers Amazon operates in Georgia, will bring more than 1,000 full- and part-time jobs to the community when it opens in 2027.
Restaurant Support: Shake Shack‘s second U.S. support center will be located at The Battery Atlanta. The company’s original support center is in New York, where it was founded in 2004. The Atlanta center will support the chain’s goal of growing from 336 locations to 1,500 restaurants across the country. The 25,000-square-foot space will feature a test kitchen along with training and meeting spaces for employees. The restaurant group is also opening its flagship restaurant alongside the center. It will be the first company-owned location to feature a full bar and serve cocktails, beer and wine.
Relocation: Homegrown tech company OneTrust recently opened its new 74,000-square-foot headquarters facility in Atlanta. The company relocated from Sandy Springs to the new space on the Atlanta Beltline in the Old Fourth Ward neighborhood.
Bartow Recycling: Ecocycle by Qcells, an offshoot of the clean energy company that addresses waste and sustainability, is planning to launch recycling operations in Cartersville, to keep solar panels out of landfills. The facility will have the ability to recycle around 500,000 panels per year – repurposing materials like aluminum, glass, silver and copper.
