Kemp: March Tax Revenues Up 7%; Adjusted YTD Up 0.4%

Staff reports, the State of Georgia’s net tax revenue collections in March totaled $2.5 billion, for an increase of $163.3 million, or 7 percent, compared to March 2024 when net tax collections totaled nearly $2.34 billion. Year-to-date, net tax revenue collections totaled almost $24.04 billion, for an increase of $543.1 million that was driven largely by the collection of the state’s motor fuel excise tax, which was suspended by Executive Order for a period of two and a half months during FY 2024.

Port of Brunswick sets auto, machinery record

Terrence McKenrick as the sole finalist for the role as GMC’s 22nd president Tuesday.  The board’s 7-0 vote kickstarts a 14-day period where McKenrick’s application materials will, per Georgia law, be made available for the public to review.

Former Trump official says DOGE cuts are impacting Georgia’s universities

Lucinda Warnke reports that Sonny Perdue, chancellor of the University System of Georgia, confirmed that cuts to federal spending are impacting Georgia’s public colleges and universities during a visit to Macon on Monday. Speaking at a Rotary Club meeting at First Presbyterian Church in downtown Macon, Perdue confirmed that universities part of the USG have had research funding withheld due to President Donald Trump’s promise to slash spending through the Department of Government Efficiency.
