Lockheed Achieves Milestone in Unmanned Naval Aviation
Staff reports that Lockheed Martin, the U.S. Navy and General Atomics achieved a significant milestone in unmanned aviation this week with the first-ever live control flight demonstration of a drone using the Unmanned Carrier Aviation Mission Control Station (UMCS). The demonstration involved controlling a General Atomics MQ-20 Avenger, a developmental unmanned combat aircraft with no human pilot, crew or passengers on board, using Lockheed Skunk Works’ Multi-Domain Combat System (MDCX) autonomy platform.
