Amanda Andrews and Kristi York Wooten report, in February, over 100 members of Congress signed a letter to Atlanta-based Delta Air Lines CEO Ed Bastian urging the company to not interfere with employees’ efforts to form a union. Lawmakers want Delta to adopt a neutrality agreement ahead of any vote to unionize.

Governor and First Lady Kemp Reinforce Economic Partnerships in Korea

Kemp and First Lady Marty Kemp today announced they are leading a delegation of state officials on an international mission to the Republic of Korea that will focus on reinforcing strategic economic development partnerships. “The Republic of Korea was the very first country I visited when I became governor for a good reason – because of the incredible partners located there,” said Governor Brian Kemp.

GHC Expands BIMM Degree Program
Staff reports, Georgia Highlands College and the Georgia Institute of Technology have entered into a new agreement, where participating students will earn dual bachelor of science degrees in in Building Information Modeling Management from GHC and Construction Science and Management from Georgia Tech in as little as four to five years.

Dutch King and Queen visit Savannah on working trip
Evan Lasseter reports, while motorcades carrying high profile officials are becoming familiar to Savannah, the one dashing around Savannah Tuesday carried Dutch royalty. King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima of the Netherlands visited Savannah on a working trip, meeting with city leaders, port officials and educators at Savannah State University for discussions on Georgia and Netherlands relations.

Southern Company Gas to move HQ in Atlanta’s largest lease of 2024 so far
Zachary Hansen reports, Southern Company’s natural gas division is moving its Atlanta headquarters in the largest office lease signing so far this year. Southern Company Gas signed a 264,300 square-foot lease at Midtown Center II, an eight-story office building at 725 W Peachtree St., company spokesman Jeff Wilson confirmed to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

Shrimp season opens in state waters June 18
Michael Hall reports, Georgia’s shrimp season opens next week. Department of Natural Resources Commissioner Walter Rabon signed an administrative order Monday setting the opening date for commercial and recreational food shrimp harvest in state waters for 8 a.m., Tuesday, a release from the DNR’s Coastal Resources Division said.

Savannah spruces up street corners with graffiti-resistant vinyl wraps adorned with archival photos
Benjamin Payne reports, Savannah officials have rolled out a new beautification campaign to cut down on graffiti at busy downtown intersections, while simultaneously beautifying city streets with a blast from the past. It’s not usual for Savannah’s transportation crews to collaborate with the city’s municipal archivists, but the two departments have collaborated to wrap 16 traffic utility boxes with graffiti-resistant vinyl laminates, each bearing a historical image unique to that specific location.

Hydrogen energy could power your flight in a few years. Here’s why it could take off in GA
Kala Hunter reports, U.S. Senators Jon Ossoff of Georgia and Lindsey Graham of South Carolina along with U.S. Rep. Hank Johnson of Georgia wrote a bill that will move the aviation industry closer to a hydrogen-aviation reality. Together, they proposed the Hydrogen Aviation Strategy Act, which requires the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to research and consult with industry partners to advance the new technology.

Georgia lawsuit asks if official’s duty to certify election results is ‘discretionary’
Melissa Cruz reports, a think tank created by former Trump administration officials is suing on behalf of a Republican elections official in Fulton County so she can refuse to certify election results. Lawyers from the pro-Trump “America First Policy Institute” filed the lawsuit on May 22 for Julie Adams, a member of the Fulton County elections board since February.
