Simone Soublet reports that Upson County is getting a new business, and it is all about recycling plastic. Brightmark’s CEO Bob Powell announced on Tuesday that the company is investing $1 billion in a 2.5 million sq. ft. plant.

Scott Trubey, Zachary Hansen and Bill Rankin report that executives for electric vehicle maker Rivian said Saturday the company remains committed to building a massive manufacturing plant 60 miles east of Atlanta despite a recent pause on construction. The company recently pivoted its plans and is ramping up production of its new R2 SUV at its plant in Normal, Illinois.

Cyberattack forces Georgia county to sever connection to state voter registration system
Zachary Cohen and Sean Lyngaas report that Georgia’s Coffee County suffered a cyberattack this month that forced the county to sever its connection to the state’s voter registration system as a precautionary measure, three sources familiar with the matter told CNN. Investigators believe the incident was a ransomware attack, in which cybercriminals typically lock computer systems and demand a ransom, the sources said.
