Gov. Kemp: Toyota Industries Corporation Expands Georgia Presence, Creating 250 New Jobs

Staff reports that Gov. Kemp on Tuesday announced that Toyota Industries Electric Systems North America, Inc., (TIESNA) will create more than 250 new jobs while expanding the Toyota Industries Corporation (Toyota Industries) campus in Pendergrass with a new manufacturing facility valued at $69 million in investment.

Feds offer relief to Georgia livestock producers hurt by drought

Drew Kann reports, facing bone dry pastures as drought persists in Georgia, the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced Tuesday that livestock producers in 20 counties can now apply for financial assistance to cope with their mounting losses. With only scant rain falling across large portions of Georgia in the last two months, the latest U.S. Drought Monitor released last week shows that drought has deepened, particularly in the northwest and southwest corners of the state.

After holding six hearings across the state, the state Senate’s Expanding Georgia’s Workforce Study Committee approved the final report it will send to the full Senate to consider during the 2024 General Assembly session beginning in January.

Georgia’s 2024 GOP primary: Trump and 10 others make the March ballot

Greg Bluestein, Tia Mitchell, Patricia Murphy and Adam Van Brimmer report that the Republican presidential lineup is set in Georgia, though there are two candidates on the March 12 primary ballot who are no longer in the running. Georgia GOP chair Josh McKoon said state party officials unanimously voted to put 11 candidates on the ballot, including former President Donald Trump and his top rivals for the nomination, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and Nikki Haley, the former United Nations Ambassador and South Carolina governor.
