October Adjusted Tax Revenues Down 5.7%

Staff reports that the State of Georgia’s net tax collections during the month of October totaled $2.62 billion, for a decrease of $84.4 million or 3.1 percent compared to October 2022, when net tax collections totaled nearly $2.71 billion for the month. $70.5 million of October’s tax revenue changes were the result of tax collected on motor fuel prior to the suspension of the state gas tax in September.

Four area counties named primary natural disaster areas, Whitfield farmers also may be eligible for emergency credit

Staff reports, for the first time in four years, Georgia has been impacted by extreme drought conditions, negatively impacting our state’s agricultural industry. Last week, U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Tom Vilsack issued a natural disaster declaration for four Georgia counties following a sustained period of drought. Impacted counties include Catoosa, Chattooga, Dade and Walker, which have sustained eight or more weeks of severe, extreme or exceptional drought conditions.
