Kennesaw’s Jack Cooper making a $2 billion bid for bankrupt Yellow
Michael E. Kanell reports that a Kennesaw-based auto transport and logistics company is reportedly making a nearly $2 billion bid to snatch up the assets of Yellow, the trucking firm that collapsed in late July and filed for bankruptcy. The proposed purchase by Jack Cooper Transport, which is getting bipartisan support on Capitol Hill as well as behind-the-scenes lobbying by the Teamsters, could salvage many of the 30,000, mostly union jobs lost when Yellow shut down amidst accusations of financial management.

Microsoft To Invest $1 Billion In Data Center in Floyd County
John Bailey reports that Microsoft will invest $1 billion in a data center campus off Huffaker Road, it announced Monday during a Rome Floyd County Development Authority meeting. The project, dubbed Project Firecracker, encompasses a 347 acre property on Huffaker Road that Microsoft will purchase at $40,000 per acre.
