Supporting tomorrow’s workforce

Cobb EMC, a not-for-profit member-owned electric cooperative, is taking a novel approach to filling tomorrow’s workforce gaps. The company’s Youth Leadership Program is seeking area high school juniors to apply for scholarships and the chance to develop leadership and networking skills as they learn more about the EMC.

Now in its fourth year, the program is the only one of its kind in Georgia, offering local students $1,500, $1,000 or $500 scholarships. Students also have opportunities to interview for paid summer internships at Cobb EMC. All it takes is completing an application and writing a 500- to 700-word essay.

A virtual information session about the program will be held Oct. 7 and the deadline for submitting applications is Oct. 21. Applicants must have a primary residence served by Cobb EMC in Bartow, Cherokee, Cobb, Fulton or Paulding counties.
