Morrow Manufacturer Honored: The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) recently awarded TOTO USA its Excellence in Green Power Use Award for the company’s purchase of power from environmentally preferable resources, such as wind, solar, geothermal and biomass. The Morrow plant is a division of the world’s largest bathroom fixtures manufacturer and currently purchases enough green power annually to meet 100 percent of the facility’s electricity use.

TOTO USA buys its green power from Georgia Power, which purchases Renewable Energy Credits generated from solar resources through its Simple Solar program. The arrangement enables Georgia Power customers to support the growth of solar energy and foster the expansion of the American green power market. TOTO USA is one of only eight companies in the nation to be honored for excellence in green power use. It is also the only plumbing manufacturer that has received the EPA’s Water Efficiency Leader Award for its sustainable manufacturing processes and commitment to water conservation.

Greener Grass Growing: Dalton-based Go Green Synthetic Lawn Solutions is revamping manufacturing processes and products to reduce its carbon footprint while offering customers a better value. The company has begun applying a soy-based backing system to its artificial grass products, which are used in landscaping and golf applications. The new backing enables Go Green to replace a large portion of the petroleum-based polymers that were previously part of the manufacturing process. Increasing its use of renewable resources not only reduces the need for fossil fuels, but also supports American soybean farmers.
