No. 1 Times Five: For the fifth straight year, Site Selection magazine named Georgia the top state to do business in the country.
Pick, Pack, Ship: Amazon has picked Georgia – for a 1-million-square-foot fulfillment center in Macon-Bibb County. It is the fourth such facility in the state and will create 500 jobs.
Health IT: Health insurer Anthem is opening a 21-story IT center in 352,000 square feet of space in Midtown Atlanta’s Tech Square. When it opens in two years, it will house about 3,000 employees, including 1,800 new hires.
Retail Warehousing: National furniture supplier Noble House is building a 630,000-square-foot facility in Savannah that will bring 60 jobs to the area.
Alpharetta Expansion: Tech Mahindra Ltd., a Mumbai, India-based firm that provides consulting, outsourcing, engineering and IT services to Fortune 500 companies, is expanding its Alpharetta location, adding up to 600 jobs.
More Bread: Martin’s Famous Pastry Shoppe is expanding its Valdosta-Lowndes County bakery to increase production capacity. The move will add approximately 120,000 square feet and 36 new jobs.
Savannah Jobs: Retailer Best Choice Products is constructing a 345,000-square-foot facility in the Savannah area, creating 90 jobs.
New Studio: The $150-million, 200-acre Founders Studios is coming to Fayette County. The project will include more than 500,000 square feet of stage space, office and flex space alongside a mixed-use district with restaurants, retail, a boutique cinema, greenspace and residential units.
Consolidation: Logistics company C.H. Robinson Worldwide Inc. is consolidating its Duluth and East Point offices into a 20,000-square-foot space in downtown Atlanta, creating 200 jobs.
