Around The State


Mohawk Adds Jobs: Mohawk Industries is expanding its Summerville manufacturing operations in Chattooga County, adding 500 jobs over the next five years. The Calhoun-based company recycles reclaimed plastic bottles and containers into polyester fiber used to produce carpet at its Summer-ville location.

Expanding HQ: Ingenico Inc., a French payments terminal manufacturer, is relocating and expanding its U.S. headquarters in Atlanta.

Gainesville Gains: ZF Wind Power is adding more than 100 jobs to its Gaines-ville plant, where it manufactures wind turbine gearboxes.

Port Activity: Nordic Logistics and Warehousing, LLC is opening a 400,000-square-foot, $50-million temperature-controlled storage facility in Savannah. The first phase will open by the end of this year and bring 100 new employees, with phase two coming online by mid-2013 along with another 100 jobs.

Kia Supplier Grows: Hanil E-Hwa Automotive Interior Systems purchased an 84,000-square-foot building and will add 150 jobs in Troup County. The plant will manufacture interior trim parts for nearby Kia.

New U.S. Office: Shenzhen-based Center Testing International (CTI), one of China’s biggest product conformity testing organizations, is opening its first U.S. office in Atlanta.

Atlanta Activity: Kabbage Inc., an online financial services provider, is expanding its Atlanta office and doubling its workforce. The $6-million expansion will add up to 65 jobs.

Kennesaw Move: is moving next month from Marietta to Kennesaw, bringing 50 new jobs. The online fabric store, which specializes in cut-yardage fabric directly to customers, will move into a new $4-million, 200,000-square-foot building.

Distillery Opens: Richland Distilling Co. opened in June in Southwest Georgia. The distillery, one of only three currently operating in the state, focuses exclusively on artisan rum and is in a restored, late 19th-century building in downtown Richland.

New Business Park: Douglas County is developing a $200-million, 309-acre corporate business park called Riverside at Sweet-water that is expected to bring 1,500 new jobs to the area.

Jobs in Gwinnett: Encompass Supply Chain Solutions recently relocated its service division to Gwinnett County, adding 60 new jobs. The move is part of a $75,000 renovation to the company’s existing technical space to expand the repair work on site.
