How to Make a Nomination

Throughout the year, Georgia Trend publishes several special lists. Many readers have called and written asking how to nominate candidates for these lists. Here’s the scoop.

Georgian of the Year/100 Most Influential Georgians

Honorees in these annual features, which appear together in January, are selected exclusively by the Georgia Trend editorial staff based on our own knowledge and observations of the state’s power structure. The same holds true for the Notables list that accompanies them.

Although we don’t take nominations for this honor, we’re happy to consider serious suggestions. Feel free to email them to us via the form on the contact page of this website.

40 Under 40

Nominations will be accepted from April 4 – May 31, 2011 for this annual feature, which appears in October, and can be mailed, e-mailed to 40under40@georgiatrend.com, faxed to 770-662-0027 or submitted via the website – but please, no phone calls. We do accept multiple nominations for individuals; nominations may include backup material such as resumes or letters of recommendation, etc.

As for qualifications – an ideal candidate is someone who is affecting Georgia (or his or her corner of it) via a job and/or civic involvement. There are cases in which a day job alone is enough of a qualification, but the state is filled with people who excel at the 9 to 5, so we’re looking for folks whose involvement and commitment goes beyond what they’re being paid to do.

Candidates must be under 40 as of Oct. 1, 2011.

Georgia Trend’s Best Places to Work in Georgia 2011

Nominations will be accepted Wednesday, June 1 – Thursday, June 30, 2011

We’re looking for the best places to work in Georgia for a special report

that will appear in our November 2011 issue.

Any employee, at any level, may nominate his or her company or organization. The Georgia Trend editorial staff will make the final selections based on what readers tell us about their workplaces.

SPECIAL NOTE: Winners are not determined by a “vote count.” We are looking for quality of information that helps us understand why a particular company is a good place to work.

Legal Elite

Nominations will be accepted Friday, July 1 – Monday, August 8, 2011

In December, we will publish our ninth annual listing of the state’s top attorneys, in 8 different practice areas, as determined by their peers. Any attorney who lives and works in Georgia and is a member of the Georgia bar is eligible to vote.

You cannot vote for yourself, but you can vote for attorneys in your own firm, as long as you vote for an equal or greater number of attorneys outside the firm. Online ballots must include the voting attorney’s name, telephone number and email address.
