Georgia Trend brings home the gold – 4 Green Eyeshade Awards
We are proud to announce that Georgia Trend won four top awards in the 58th annual Green Eyeshade Awards sponsored by the Society for Professional Journalists to recognize outstanding journalism in the 11-state Southeastern region.
Senior Editor Jerry Grillo’s series on transportation won first place in the “Public Affairs Reporting,” Magazine Division.
Grillo’s stories on Georgia’s water situation won first place in the “Non-Deadline News,” Magazine Division, and won the “Best of Show,” Magazine Division, award.
Editor Susan Percy won first place in the “Humorous Commentary,” Magazine Division, for a selection of her monthly Business Casual columns.
Earlier this year, in a national competition sponsored by the Alliance of Area Business Publications, for newspapers and magazines covering business, Grillo’s story on UGA researcher Dr. Steve Stice took third place in the “Best Profile” category.
At this year’s GAMMA Awards, sponsored by the Magazine Association of the Southeast, Percy was inducted into the association’s Hall of Fame in recognition of her contributions to magazine journalism.
Since 2000, Georgia Trend has won a total of 14 gold or first-place awards, 7 silver or second place awards, 10 bronze or third-place awards and two honorable mentions in national or regional competitions.
