Morris Sale: Morris Communications, Augusta-based owner of Georgia Trend, is selling its newspaper division to GateHouse Media Inc. Morris Multimedia Inc., parent company to Morris Newspaper Corp., plans a redeployment of resources to its other operations, which include business, lifestyle and enthusiast media; digital marketing; and real estate. William “Billy” Morris III will remain publisher of The Augusta Chronicle.
Seeing Stars: Georgia welcomed 320 feature film and TV productions in FY 2017, generating a $9.5 billion economic impact (and $2.7 billion in direct spending) in the state – up from $67.7 million in 2007 and $7.2 billion last year.
Griffin Manufacturing: Japanese home appliances manufacturer Rinnai is opening its first U.S. manufacturing facility in Spalding County. The $69-million investment will create an initial 150 jobs, with a total of 300 jobs expected over the next 10 years.
Sales and Service: Coyote Logistics, a UPS subsidiary, is investing $6 million into a new sales and customer service hub in Atlanta’s Armour Yards development, creating 325 jobs.
Blairsville Expansion: Advanced Digital Cable Inc., which manufactures electronic and communication cable and wire, is expanding in Union County. The $15-million expansion will add 100,000 square feet to the existing facility and create 65 jobs.
