Healthcare Hub: Kaiser Permanente is opening an information technology campus in Midtown Atlanta that will create 900 jobs by 2019, bringing its total presence in Georgia to more than 4,000 employees, including physicians.


More Film Studios: Two new film studios are opening in Metro Atlanta. Eagle Rock Studios Atlanta opened a 690,000-square-foot television production studio in Gwinnett – the largest such facility in the country. Officials have also announced that Third Rail Studios will open on six acres of the former GM site in Doraville in an existing 130,000-square-foot building.


Solar Power: Georgia Power is building a $75-million, 200-acre solar panel farm at Fort Benning outside Columbus. The facility will provide 30 MW to the post. Two other similar projects are planned for Fort Gordon in Augusta and Fort Stewart outside Savannah.


Ministries Move: The United Methodist General Board of Global Ministries is moving its headquarters from New York to Atlanta. The not-for-profit organization, which directs the mission work of the United Methodist Church, will relocate by late 2016.


Software HQ: Assure-Sign is moving its headquarters from Orlando to Atlanta this summer. The electronic signature company also plans to expand its workforce by 50 percent by the beginning of 2016.


Heading South: Orthopedic technology company Bauerfeind USA is relocating its headquarters from Marietta to Midtown Atlanta. The company, a subsidiary of Germany-based Bauerfeind AG, develops orthoses (orthotic devices), medical compression stockings and orthopedic supports for athletes and others.
