Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful Celebrates 35 Years

The environmental nonprofit Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful celebrated its 35th anniversary last month at the Gwinnett Center with an awards dinner to honor individuals, organizations and corporations in Gwinnett County for environmental stewardship. Nearly 400 people attended the event, where the following awards were among those presented: Founders Award: The Lawrenceville Women’s Club is the organization that convinced the Gwinnett County Board of Commissioners to establish Gwinnett Clean & Beautiful in 1980. Green Business Leader of the Decade: Marsha Anderson Bomar has more than 40 years of leadership in transportation and community development and served as the first female international president of the Institute of Transportation Engineers. 2015 Savannah Book Festival

This year's Savannah Book Festival features an exciting lineup of authors including headliners best-selling mystery writer Janet Evanovich, humorist and satirist P.J. O’Rourke and the ‘Grand Dame of Gothic Fiction’ Anne Rice with her son, award-winning novelist Christopher Rice. In addition, a number of writers with connections to Georgia will be among the 35 authors at the festival, including at least one member of the Georgia Writers Hall of Fame, Mary Hood. Georgia's New Trustees: Not for self but for others

In 1732 King George II of England appointed a group of trustees to establish the colony of Georgia. Those trustees took as their guiding principle Non Sibi, Sed Allis, "not for self but for others." That principle continues to guide the Georgia Historical Society in conjunction with the Governor's Office in their selection of today's Georgia Trustees - the state's highest honor.    This year, two accomplished women who have spent their lives making the lives of Georgians - and people from around the world - better will be inducted into the Georgia Trustees at the Georgia History Festival Trustees Gala in Savannah on Saturday, Feb. 14.  Read this month's Georgia Trend cover story to learn more about these two women...
