Dougherty Power: A $200-million, 50-MW biomass plant will soon power Procter & Gamble’s facility in Albany. Developed in partnership with Constellation, the plant will supply 100 percent of the steam needed to run the P&G facility and up to 70 percent of the total energy used to make its Bounty paper towels and Charmin toilet tissue. The facility will provide up to 500 construction jobs and 50 to 70 permanent jobs once it is operating in 2017.
Bryan Co. Expansion: Caesarstone is expanding in Richmond Hill. The engineered quartz surfaces manufacturer, which first opened its Georgia facility in 2013, will create 130 jobs.
Distribution Center: Lancaster, Pa.-based WebstaurantStore, an e-commerce site that sells restaurant equipment and supplies, is opening a 472,000-square-foot distribution and fulfillment center in Albany. The $10-million investment will create 150 jobs.
LaGrange: Caterpillar Inc. is growing its facility in Troup County. The expansion, part of a $25-million investment, will create 50 jobs. Caterpillar has been manufacturing forestry equipment at the location for 20 years.
Metro Atlanta Expansion: Comcast is expanding its footprint, relocating its regional headquarters to Peachtree Corners and creating 150 jobs, with an additional 150 positions at its existing facility in Alpharetta.
Chatham Retail: Atlanta-based Floor & Decor opened a 68,000-square-foot store in Savannah, initially employing 40.
